The city is called “Al Medina Al Munawwarah” which translates into “the Enlighted City”. One of the two holiest cities in Islam, pilgrims who come to Saudi Arabia make it one of their primary stops. Al Masjid An Nabawi, the focal point of the city, was built by the Prophet Muhammed, Peace and Blessings be upon him, and served as his burial place. Also known to be the place where he lived and taught following his migration from Makkah.
